• There has been posterior fixation from L1-L5 for a burst fracture of L3. There is no deformity or significant canal compromise despite the presence of minor retropulsion of the L3 vertebral body, but there is clear evidence of non-union through the centre of the vertebra. The canal is well-preserved and the distal thoracic cord and conus appear intact with no evidence of lumbar nerve compression. No abnormality is seen in the pre-sacral space or the imaged portion of the sacrum, but the axial images suggest the presence of a subacute haematoma lateral to the right L2/L3 intervertebral foramen which could involve the exiting right L2 nerve root.
