Spine Week 11 Case 9

• The imaging appearances are consistent with a shearing injury with fracture-dislocation at the L1-L2 level, predominantly through the superior endplate of L2, with L1-L2 post-traumatic spondylolisthesis.
• There is retropulsion of the L2 posterior vertebral body into the central canal. This is causing severe central canal stenosis with compression of the cauda equina nerve roots. There is a sliver of extradural haematoma. There is extensive adjacent soft tissue oedema and haematoma. There is large volume haematoma within the left paraspinal muscles and psoas.
