Normal alignment is maintained. There is very minimal L5-S1 degenerative spondylolisthesis with minor disc degeneration, but advanced hypertrophic facet osteoarthritis. There is associated L5/S1 disc dehydration with no overt disc bulge. At this level however, there is a small low t1, high t2 signal round lesion closely associated with the facet, where you can see some fluid. A round low signal rim outlines this lesion consistent with a facet joint ganglion cyst. This is abutting but not compressing the s1 nerve root.
