• Normal lumbar spinal segmentation, but there is very minimal degenerative spondylolisthesis at both L3-L4 and L5-S1. All of the discs show a mild-to-moderate degree of degenerative change with multilevel disc bulges and a posterior annular fissure at L1-L2.
• There is advanced disc degeneration with endplate irregularity/erosion at the L2-L3 level. There is no fluid seen within the disc space, but there is diffuse oedema involving the whole of the L2 and L3 vertebral bodies which is far more excessive than would be expected for simple type I Modic changes related to degenerative disc disease. There is also mild enhancement in the peri-vertebral soft tissues, and overall the features are felt to be consistent with very low-grade discitis.
• Otherwise, a simple haemangioma is noted at the T12 level which is of no concern. There is no significant canal stenosis or lumbar nerve root compression identified, and the distal thoracic cord and conus appear intact. No abnormality is seen in the pre-sacral space or the imaged portion of the sacrum.
